The Orihuela City Council’s governing team (PP-VOX) will ask the Ministry of Health to give them the power to build the second health centre on the Orihuela Costa at the next plenary session, tomorrow Tuesday December 23rd. This is something that the people have been asking for for a long time because the population is growing and the current centre is full.

The infrastructure that was developed in 2004 is already too small for the more than 28,000 patients it serves. The new building will be built on a 12,000 m² land in Villa Rosa (sector H-1) and will have more than 3,000 m² of floor space. It will feature family medical, paediatrics, and emergency services, among other things. The anticipated investment is about eight million euros.
Once the delegation is approved, the City Council will take over running the project and the construction work. This is to speed up the process. The whole thing should take no more than five years, but it should be done sooner than that. The governing team thinks that this initiative is important for both social and health reasons in order to make care better in Orihuela Costa.
