The Local Governing Board of the Torrevieja City Council approved the redevelopment project of Agreement C-2 “Punta de la Víbora” of the General Plan, known as Torreta III. This project will cost a total of 9,656,250 euros and will entirely change the look of the area, with a focus on creating a large green space next to the Salinas Natural Park.
Federico Alarcón, the secretary of the Local Governing Board, says that the project will completely renovate the public road network, including fixing pavements and paving roads. It will also modernise all urban services, such as the networks for drinking water, sanitation, electricity, and public lighting.
One of the best things about the project is that it will create a fresh green space of about 35,000 square metres next to the Salinas de Torrevieja Natural Park. This area will have public buildings that are built to fit in with the area’s distinctive setting.
The project also includes a second concept to fix up the building that was initially going to be used for the Mud Spa. The goal is to make it usable again and to use it as a viewpoint over the salt lagoon in the future. This action depends on getting final approval from both the Directorate General of Coasts of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Directorate of Natural Environment Management of the Valencian Regional Government.
The work on the green space is the initial step of a bigger undertaking. The City Council will send the file to the Valencian Regional Government and the Ministry for Ecological Transition, along with the proposal for the spa’s renovation. This is so they can get the necessary sectoral reports and be able to put the work out to bid in the first half of 2026.
