The National Police have arrested three men, ages 36, 40, and 43, and taken down a criminal group that was growing marijuana indoors. They also found a marijuana plantation with 615 plants in an industrial warehouse in the town of Petrer, Alicante.
Several claims that there was a marijuana cultivation in an industrial facility in the town led to the police inquiry. The National Police said in a statement that the stench and noise of fans running all day and night were “constant,” and there may have been an illegal connection to the electrical grid.
After looking at all the material, the agents started to collect proof that the information was true. They first checked the location of the ship being probed and who owned and used it.
After that, they did several surveillance operations that helped the investigators figure out that the warehouse wasn’t being used for business and that the air conditioners were always running and that there was a “strong characteristic smell” of marijuana plants coming from it. They also looked into the possibility of “clear” electricity fraud.
After gathering all the material and finding “sufficient evidence” that a marijuana plantation existed, the agents asked the Judicial Authority for a search warrant for the warehouse being probed.
After the search, police found a marijuana farm with 615 plants, 23,315 grammes of buds, about €2,200 in cash, and a car that they took. Along with it, police detained three guys for being part of a criminal organisation, trafficking drugs, and cheating people out of energy.
They also checked to see if the building had electrical leakage or was linked to the grid without permission. They found that the building was connected to the grid without permission.
After the police processes were done, the inmates were sent to the duty investigative courts in the town of Elda.
