The Guardia Civil caught a couple in San Isidro leaving their house with a suitcase full of marijuana and a bag with €12,000 in cash. Officers were getting ready to arrest the man because they thought he was the one who had attacked someone badly in Cox. They are now being charged with narcotics trafficking in addition to the assault accusation.
The investigation started on August 13th, after a violent incident that hurt the victim badly. The fight started with words in a pub in Cox and quickly turned into a nasty physical attack. One of the men hit the other man over and over again, knocking him to the ground and making him smack his head. After that, he ran away.
The victim was rushed to the hospital, where he had to have emergency surgery to fix the bad injuries he had during the beating.
Inquiry
The Guardia Civil of Almoradí’s Judicial Police Team collected all the information they could at the scene of the crime and started looking for the attacker. This has not been an easy task, and it has taken the agents several months of investigation to find out where he is.

After confirming the suspect’s identity, police found him in San Isidro and set up a plan to arrest him. When he was arrested, he was with his partner. They were found taking a suitcase with 6 kilogrammes of marijuana buds and a handbag with €12,000 in cash out of their home.
Selling drugs
They found things in the house that could be used to weigh, vacuum-pack, and sell drugs, as well as 1,000 euros in cash, which is in addition to the 12,000 euros they already had in their bags. They also found several moblie phones, cards used in drug trafficking, and a lot of other things.

There is also evidence that the man was the one who attacked Cox.
A 25-year-old guy and a 23-year-old woman are the suspects. They are both accused of narcotics trafficking. The attack that happened on August 13th also led to the man being charged with aggravated assault.
The Court of Instruction number 1 of Orihuela has made them available and has ordered their release with charges for both.
The man who was hurt is 40 years old and was released from the hospital after several weeks of therapy and care at Vega Baja and Elche Hospitals. He will have permanent repercussions. Investigators have determined that the attacker and the victim did not know each other before the attack and that it was caused by a chance dispute, not by the attacker’s past as a drug dealer.
