Yesterday, Thursday, January 1st, the Elche Court of First Instance, which used to be called Court of Instruction number 4, agreed to the provisional, communicated and without bail for the detainee for his alleged connection to the fire that broke out late Monday afternoon in a building in Crevillent (Alicante), where a 25-year-old woman died and a 33-year-old man was hurt.
The Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community (TSJCV) said that the individual, who lives in the building and was brought to court this Thursday, is being investigated for arson, murder, and injury.
The Guardia Civil arrested the individual because they think he was involved in the fire on the property. The Santa Pola territorial squad of the Judicial Police is in charge of the inquiry to find out what happened and what started the fire.
The medical team had to revive the 25-year-old victim twice, but she died in the hospital where she was transported, according to the Emergency Information and Coordination Centre (CICU) at the time. The other hurt person, a 33-year-old man, was sent to Elche Hospital in serious condition.
The Provincial Fire Consortium says the fire started around 8 p.m. on Monday in a second-floor apartment in a three-story building on Al-Shafra Street. They saved six people, four from the outside and two from inside the building, including the dead guy and another male.
The Guardia Civil says that about 60 people were moved out of the building that was affected and the one next to it. The Crevillent Civil Guard station dispatched officers to the scene.
Two command units were also sent out, along with a heavy rural fire engine, a heavy water tanker, a light urban fire engine, a ladder truck, and a personal transport van with a sergeant, three corporals, and ten firefighters from the Crevillent, Elche, Almoradí, and Elda fire stations. They said the fire was out at about 1:21 a.m. on Tuesday.
