As part of Operation Crinto, the Guardia Civil has solved a case of an individual illegally holding someone and a robbery with violence and threats that happened in Callosa de Segura (Alicante). After that, the criminal was found and caught again. They are currently in jail, after many court rulings.
Authorities got a report in November 2025, which led to the start of the investigation. The victim said in the report that she was seated on a bench at a viewpoint in the town when a man came up to her and requested for a cigarette. The attacker saw that the victim had a mobile phone with 100 euros in it, so he pulled out a big knife, threatened her, put the knife at her neck, and hit her with the handle.
The attacker then made the woman go to an old, run-down residence, where she was confined against her will. Finally, the victim took advantage of a moment of inattention to escape. She walked to a medical centre to get care for her injuries and was later sent to Vega Baja University Hospital.
After hearing about what happened, the Investigation Area of the Main Post of the Guardia Civil of Callosa de Segura started the first investigations. They did a thorough analysis of how the crime was committed and the victim’s statement, which helped them get identifying information about the suspect.
An inquiry led to the operational phase of the case beginning in November, when a search warrant was carried out at the property. The police were able to get into the house and apprehend the suspect. A large knife was found under a rug during the search.
The Callosa de Segura Main Station and the Torrevieja Citizen Security Unit worked together on the operation. The Orihuela Judicial District Court ordered the release of the detainee and the belongings that had been taken from him.
Later, at the end of November, the Main Post of the Guardia Civil of Callosa de Segura learnt that two court orders had been issued from the Judicial District of Orihuela for the search, arrest, and detention of the same person.
Because the person had a history of running away and a long criminal record, the police started a number of operations. Because of these efforts, police were able to confirm that the man they were looking for might be hiding in the same empty building.
In December of last year, a patrol from the Callosa de Segura Main Station saw that the door to the residence was open. When asked to come to the door, the wanted man promptly did so and closed it in front of the officers.
In reaction to these occurrences, an operational deployment was set up right once. It surrounded the property and kept a short conversation going with the accused, who kept refusing to come out and give himself over to the police, rejecting the agents’ commands.
The officers opened the door right away and went inside. At that point, the person tried to escape through the upper windows, even standing on two windowsills and planning to jump from the first floor. The officers were able to stop him from getting away because of the building’s surrounding fence, and they then arrested him.
The courts that asked for the case file got it. The detainee was put in jail after being presented before the right court.
