The prosecution is asking for a 14-year prison sentence for a man who is accused of trying to kill his wife in 2024 at the Vinalopó Hospital in Elche, where she was being treated after giving birth to their kid.
The events started on April 9th of that year, when the defendant and the victim got into a fight in the health centre’s room. During the fight, she told him she wanted to stop the relationship.
The prosecution says that the man with a knife came into the room when the woman was sleeping and recovering from her caesarean section on April 10th, just a few hours later.
The prosecution says that the defendant stabbed the victim in the neck, which woke her up and made her call for aid. Then he stabbed her in the skull and left shoulder. The woman was hurt badly enough that she could have died if she hadn’t gotten medical help right away. It took her 33 days to recover from the injuries.
The Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community (TSJCV) says that the trial in this matter will take place on Friday, January 9th, in the first section of the Alicante Court.
