As part of its fight against drug trafficking, the Guardia Civil arrested a 62-year-old man in the port of Dénia after stopping a car that had more than seven kilos of cocaine hidden in a specifically made compartment.
The events took place during a routine check at the Pansa pier, where agents from the Guardia Civil of Dénia’s Fiscal and Borders Detachment were looking at a passenger car that had foreign plates and was only being driven by its owner.
During the examination, authorities found a structural change that didn’t match the building’s original design. Because of these factors, detectives searched the car more thoroughly and found many vacuum-sealed bags with a white powder inside when they opened the secret compartment using tools. The powder turned out to be cocaine and weighed more than seven kilos.

They also took a modest amount of cash and the car that was utilised to move the drugs. Because of this, the 62-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of committing a crime against public health by trafficking drugs.
Finally, the detainee was handed over to the appropriate legal authorities, which ordered his temporary detention without bail.
The Guardia Civil is still looking into where the drugs came from and where they were going, and they may take more steps in this case.
