The Alicante Provincial Court has sentenced a man to 18 years and nine months in jail for sexually assaulting his partner’s two-year-old granddaughter and filming the attacks, as well as for having a lot of child pornography. The defendant, who is from Paraguay and was supposed to go to court yesterday, Thursday January 8th, in the Tenth Section, admitted to the crimes and took full responsibility for the three he was being tried for after making a deal with the prosecution.
The incidents occurred between May and August 2023, when the victim was two years old. The prosecution says that the defendant took advantage of the times he was alone with the girl to sexually assault her in a home in Alicante. They say he used his relationship of trust with the girl’s parents to make her do different sexual acts, which he recorded on video or took pictures of.
Google found photographs of paedophiles and told the US about them.
The public prosecutor also said that the man had been keeping child pornography in a Google account since 2017. When Google found these pictures, it told the U.S. National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children. The centre sent the information to Spain, which started the inquiry.
The punishment was read out and included a 13-year and six-month prison term for repeatedly sexually assaulting a minor, as well as an additional 23 years and six months of a restraining order that kept him from contacting the victim. Second, he got five more years for making child pornography and another 15 years of a restraining order that kept him from contacting the juvenile. Lastly, he got three more months for having child pornography.
Along with these steps, the person is also barred from working in any field or activity that involves contact with minors for the same amount of time as the victim’s restraining orders. Finally, the parents get €30,000 in damages for moral harm.
