The Guardia Civil claimed in a statement that an operation called “Reformantes” had broken up an organised group that was stealing from building sites and selling drugs in the Alicante towns of Villajoyosa and Finestrate.
In mid-September 2025, the investigation began after a number of reports came in regarding tools, electrical appliances, and other construction items being stolen from building sites.
The Villajoyosa Investigation Unit of the Guardia Civil found a group of people who were often observed around the places they were looking for. Surveillance activities led to the identification of six suspects — five males and one woman, aged between 38 and 43 — acting in a coordinated manner to carry out the thefts.
In Villajoyosa, the police discovered two houses storing stolen goods. These addresses were also places where drugs were sold to local consumers.
After that, two homes were searched at those addresses, and three of the people involved were arrested. There were six arrests in different operations between November and December. All of them are now part of the same court case.
Authorities think the stolen goods are worth more than €30,000. During the searches, they found a lot of tools, household items, and building materials, which have now been restored to their original owners.
Law enforcement also took 33 grammes of methamphetamine, 150 grammes of cannabis, and 180 grammes of hashish, along with precision scales and other tools required to sell drugs illegally.
All six inmates are Spanish citizens between the ages of 38 and 43 and are being charged with drug trafficking and breaking and entering. Two have been held without bail, while the others have been released with court-ordered conditions.
