The 112 emergency service reported that a 41-year-old man was shot at the door of his home in the El Algar area of Cartagena, in the Region of Murcia, and died early this morning.
The man was discovered bleeding profusely and laying at his home’s door shortly after a loud explosion was heard, according to accounts from neighbours published by 112.
According to the source, the victim resided in a duplex on Calle Juan XXIII in the aforementioned town, which is roughly eighteen kilometres from Cartagena. The source has not disclosed any other information regarding the incident or indicated whether any arrests have been made.
“Given the seriousness of the report, patrols from the Civil Guard, the Local Police and a mobile unit from the 061 Emergency and Health Services Management were immediately dispatched to the area,” he said, referring to the several calls that alerted the 112 emergency service to the event.
Despite “the intense efforts made by the medical staff to stabilise the victim and given the severity of the injuries,” he passed away at the scene before being transported to a hospital, according to 112, despite the prompt intervention of emergency services.
