Ten members of a criminal organisation that specialised in drug “rip-offs” were arrested by the National Police in an operation that took place in the province of Alicante and the Region of Murcia. The members are accused of document forgery, illegal detention, drug trafficking, illegal possession of weapons, robbery with violence and intimidation, and belonging to a criminal organisation.
The investigation started last September when the National Police’s CIMACC 091 room received a call informing them of a violent attack that took place in a building’s garage in the Murcian district of Santo Ángel. The attack involved multiple armed individuals robbing a victim of a bag containing drugs after assaulting and intimidating him with a firearm.
The agents were able to ascertain that this criminal group’s method of operation involved setting up a meeting with the victim to conduct purported drug transactions, and when the other person revealed the narcotic material, they forcibly stole it using firearms.
The agents were able to identify every member of the criminal group after examining video surveillance cameras and continuous monitoring devices. They also found that the group kept in touch with other people who were involved in drug trafficking and were planning similar new attacks.

A 9mm calibre semi-automatic firearm, over 400 handgun and shotgun cartridges, drugs, nearly 75,000 euros in cash, and six vehicles used by the criminal group were found during eight house searches conducted in the towns of Murcia, Caravaca de la Cruz, Mula, Lorquí, Alhama de Murcia, and Pilar de la Horadada.
The Judicial Police Brigade, Canine Unit, Scientific Police, Air Support Unit, Operational Support Group, Prevention and Reaction Unit, Citizen Assistance Group, and Operational Response Group were among the units from the Murcia Regional Police Headquarters that participated in the operation. The Mula Local Police Canine Unit also provided assistance.
Ten members of the criminal organisation were apprehended as a result of the National Police officers’ operation, and the four primary suspects were held in pretrial custody.
