San Vicente wants to make the municipality safer. In order to do this, the State Secretariat for Security (General Directorate of the Guardia Civil) and the Town Council have inked an agreement. The objective is to improve cooperation and coordination between the local police and the civil guard.
The agreement calls for the exchange of useful information for the municipality, including monthly police and criminal activity statistics, an annual summary of the town’s crime trends, updated maps and computer media from the digitised municipal cartography system, and updated information on addresses, phones, schedules, and potentially helpful services.
Joint police communications will also be promoted, with the goal of integrating both police forces into the 112 emergency services. This will be achieved by connecting the 062 and 092 rooms by sharing automated communication records, diverting calls, and using shared frequencies for specific police communications.
Board for Local Security
Additionally, the Local Security Board is essential. In order to guarantee the collaboration and coordination of the various police forces, this body has the power to determine how security policies will be coordinated and carried out. To assist in identifying and addressing public safety needs in the community, the Local Security Board may establish participatory bodies.
Additionally, it will create a Local Security Plan within six months that defines action plans and tackles the municipality’s current security issues. In addition to their collaboration with other professionals and public agencies, this plan will contain coordinated and planned police action programmes for the security forces working within the municipality.
The contract needs to be followed
A Monitoring Committee will be formed and meet at least twice a year to make sure the agreement is being followed. The agreement states that this committee will settle any potential disputes over interpretation and compliance.
