The Alicante Provincial Fire Consortium said that the fire that started outside a warehouse in the Carrús industrial park in Elche was under control at 4:05 p.m. yesterday, Thursday January 22nd. The fire created large flames and a thick column of smoke because of the type of debris that had built up and the strong winds in the area.
Sources from the Consortium said that the fire, which started just before 11 a.m., damaged a lot of cardboard, plastics, scrap metal, and other household items that were stored there.
Along with putting out the fire, the personnel did specific work to stop the flames from spreading. According to the same sources, this goal was reached by noon.
A sergeant and three corporals led the operation, which involved a total of sixteen firemen from the fire stations in Elche, Crevillente, Almoradí, and San Vicente del Raspeig. The supplies that were sent out included a Command Unit (UMJ), a Heavy Urban Pumper (BUP), two Urban Water Tankers (BNP), and two Heavy Rural Pumpers (BRP).
