Police are looking into a possible murder-suicide after a 65-year-old father was found dead with several stab wounds and his 36-year-old son plunged to his death from a balcony.
Emergency workers who went to the scene also found that the father’s wife was badly hurt.
The event took place in the Los Boliches neighbourhood of Fuengirola on Wednesday morning, January 21st, at about 8:50 a.m. Medical teams and multiple police patrols went to the area and helped the only injured person who was still alive, the mother.
The police are looking into the idea that the boy killed his father, then attacked his mother before dying himself, but this has not been proven.
Reports say that the crime happened in front of another son, who is said to be disabled.
The mother was rushed to the regional hospital with many stab wounds, some of which were to her face. She was in serious but stable condition.
Forensic officers and judicial police were sent to the property on Avenida de los Boliches to go over the situation in detail. A spokesman for the National Police in Malaga said that a family member and a neighbour found the father’s death and called the police.
Authorities said they don’t know why the attack happened yet, but they did say that expert units are “working to clarify exactly what happened.”
The area stayed closed off all morning. At 11:35 a.m., the remains were taken off the property and sent to the Institute of Legal Medicine in Malaga, where they will be examined after death.
The family owned the apartment building and rented out the first floor while living on the second.
Reports say that the couple resided there with their 36-year-old son, their disabled son, and the woman’s elderly mother.
Police say that “the motivation, the trigger is not known” and that “the investigators of the various police units are working on it to try to clarify what happened.”
The bodies were taken out of the building where the events happened about 11:35 a.m. The area around it had been closed off since early in the morning. The bodies have been sent to the Institute of Legal Medicine in Malaga, where the autopsy will be done.
The family lived in a building where the first level was rented. The couple, their son, and the mother of the injured woman, who has a disability, all lived on the second storey.
