National Police have shut down an indoor marijuana farm with 264 plants in the town of Pedreguer (Alicante). They arrested a 67-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman for drug trafficking and electricity fraud after finding an illegal connection to the electrical network that powered the illegal farm.
The investigation started after someone told the police about a probable marijuana plantation in a residence in the town. The police said that after looking at all the evidence and doing a few checks, the Judicial Police officers from the Dénia Police Station focused their investigation on a couple, a man and a woman, who lived in the house and were in charge of taking care of the plantation.
Also, investigations in the area showed that all of the house’s windows were closed and that a large air conditioning unit was always running, giving off a smell that was typical of marijuana plantations. There was also the possibility of clear electrical fluid fraud.
During the investigation’s operative phase, the Judicial Authority gave permission to search the residence that was being looked into. Following the searches, authorities arrested the couple under investigation. The plantation was found, and it had 264 marijuana plants, 2,854 grammes of the drug, and a high-tech hydroponic system with transformers, air conditioning, extraction, and fluorescent lights.
Also, following a number of examinations, it was discovered that the residence was connected to the electrical grid in an unauthorised way. The duty magistrates in Dénia have seen the detainees.
