The Vertical Climb to the Gran Hotel Bali, one of Europe’s most famous uphill races, will take place in Benidorm on March 28th. There are almost no more spots available, and more than 500 runners are expected to take part.
According to the organisers, the competition will be conducted at the Gran Hotel Bali, the tallest hotel structure in Europe, with a route that has 52 floors, 924 stairs, and 190 metres of elevation change. This year marks the twentieth iteration of the competition.
For the ninth year in a row, the race is part of the Towerrunning World Association’s World Circuit. There will be three categories: Firefighters outfitted (with at than 120 registered competitors), Open, and Elite.
The Elite category will bring together more than 30 experts from the globe circuit, including the main national references, as well as those from Spain, Italy, Germany, the Czech Republic, Canada, Mexico, Slovakia, Croatia, England, Poland, and Australia.
The group has set aside more than 3,000 euros in prizes, plus an extra bonus for anyone who can break the event’s record times of 4 minutes and 20 seconds for men (set by German Christian Riedl in 2018) and 5 minutes and 30 seconds for women (set by Croatian Tea Faber in 2025).
