A 54-year-old bricklayer in San Fulgencio died after falling from the roof of the building where he was working. The event is being looked into as a work accident.
On Tuesday, January 27th, at about 9:30 a.m., the Generalitat’s Emergency Coordination Centre (CICU) got a call saying that a worker had fallen from the roof of a building in the municipality’s industrial park.
A SAMU unit was sent to the scene, and their medical experts could only confirm that this Bulgarian worker had died from a severe head injury caused by the impact.
The disaster happened in a fancy seafood restaurant on Calle Isla Mallorca in the Las Moras industrial area. It was near to the route that connects the municipality of San Fulgencio with the N-332 and Guardamar del Segura.
According to city officials, the worker was on the roof of the building when a sheet of asbestos cement covering one of the gaps broke, sending him falling about six metres. The same sources said that the City Council is checking to see if the company has the right municipal operating licence.
The Judicial Police of the Civil Guard in Almoradí are looking into what happened.
