Once again, the Elche City Council is showing that it cares about the health and well-being of the city’s older residents and active ageing. The council has added more spots for workshops for people over 60, bringing the total to 600. This shows that they are committed to the health, physical exercise, and socialisation of this population.
These events, which are quite popular every year, are meant to help older people live healthier lives by getting them to exercise and spend time with other people. Tai chi, aquagym, and Zumba are some of the classes available, and there are options for people of all fitness levels and abilities.
Registration is open until February 5th, which gives anybody who wants to register plenty of time to do so. The City Council says that the higher number of available spots shows that more people are interested in these workshops and that they were well-received in the past. More information can be found at the council’s website https://www.elche.es/mayores/talleres-para-mayores/
These workshops are more than just a place for older people to get some exercise; they also give them a chance to meet new people and stay active while still being a part of the community’s social life.
The Elche City Council is making a stronger commitment to active ageing policies by adding this new area. These policies stress the need of being active at any age and focus on prevention and well-being. This programme not only takes care of the body, but also of mental health and relationships, which are all important for healthy ageing.
