According to a statement from the National Police, a driver was arrested following a risky chase between Alcantarilla and Campos del Río, reaching speeds of 200 km/h.
Agents working on crime prevention in a drug-dealing area spotted a vehicle travelling at excessive speed.
When police attempted to stop him, the motorist, who lacked a driver’s licence, defied the order and drove via Alcantarilla’s numerous streets before continuing along the highway towards Mula.
During the chase, the man achieved speeds of up to 200 km/h and engaged in dangerous driving manoeuvres that jeopardised the road safety of other cars.
The vehicle crashed after leaving the road at the Campos del Río exit. The driver attempted to flee but was apprehended shortly thereafter. During the arrest, the man resisted, causing personal injuries to the police as well as property damage.
The arrested individual, who is charged with alleged crimes against road safety and attacking a law enforcement officer, appeared before the duty judge in Molina de Segura.
