One of the detainees is also suspected of attempted homicide in the context of gender violence, illegal weapon possession, and violent robbery.
The inquiry began at the end of January, when the Guardia Civil became aware of a woman fleeing from a country house in the village of Jerónimo y Avileses, where she was reportedly subjected to gender-based violence.
The Guardia Civil discovered that on the same day the woman fled the property by jumping over the perimeter wall, her partner threatened her and fired multiple shots with a hunting rifle, reportedly in an attempt to impede her escape.
In addition, investigators acquired evidence and discovered that the house was utilised for large-scale marijuana growing.
Two firearms seized
A police team comprised of various operational and investigation units entered and searched the premises after thinking that the weapon used to frighten the woman could be found inside the home.
The search led to the discovery of a facility equipped with 135 electrical transformers, 21 air conditioning units, air extractors, and carbon filters, as well as approximately 700 cannabis plants. The electrical supply was fraudulently linked to the grid.
The Guardia Civil also found a revolver and a hunting shotgun that had been reported stolen.
The ‘Fremes’ operation resulted in the arrest of three men on charges of drug cultivation and production, electricity fraud, and belonging to a criminal organisation.
These are three seasoned criminals with lengthy criminal records involving drug trafficking, weapons, and explosives offences, among others.
