Three motorcyclists have died in Málaga this year. The most recent victim was a 29-year-old man killed after his motorbike collided with a car on Avenida Valle Inclán in Málaga on Saturday, July 12th.
Motorcycle accidents at Torremolinos, Coín, and Alhaurín de la Torre continue to be lethal.
The majority of fatal motorbike accidents occur on fast routes, particularly the A7 (three) and the capital’s ring road, the MA-20 (two).
So far this year, eleven motorcyclists have died on Malaga’s motorways and regular roads. The year 2024 ended with eleven motorbike fatalities, up from five the previous year.
According to Línea Directa, motorcyclists want improved road safety to prevent accidents. Ricardo Carrasco is the company’s road safety director. “What worries motorcyclists the most is the road surface, as potholes can jeopardise their safety.” The second issue is slick paint, particularly in urban areas. This paint causes many bikers to slip. Another popular item is vertical traffic signs. When a motorcycle leaves the road or is involved in an accident, they frequently collide with a signpost. The most historic of all these demands, of course, is the requirement for guardrails.”
This analysis, based on DGT statistics, reveals that over 800 motorcyclists died in Andalusia between 2013 and 2024, while another 63,000 were injured.
The statement portrays motorbike accidents in Spain as a social concern; last year, the number of fatalities was approximately 290, the highest ever recorded.
The victim is a man between the ages of 40 and 50 who has ten years of driving experience. The collision happened on a road on a Saturday.
Virtually all of the victims were wearing helmets and protective clothing, although in more than half of these fatal accidents the motorcyclist tested positive for alcohol, drugs, or psychotropic drugs, and in one in three cases the motorcyclist was exceeding the speed limit.
According to the DGT (Directorate General of Traffic)’s most recent provincial data for 2023, Málaga has over 200,000 registered motorcycles.
