On Saturday, May 17, Local Police Environmental Unit officers rescued four horses and a rooster from an abandoned farm in Cartagena’s BahÃa Bella residential district.
The officers, at the request of the Cartagena City Council’s Health Department, had previously checked the animals’ condition, which was revealed following complaints from local residents about their neglect and lack of food and shelter, and which was certified by veterinary medical staff who visited the area accompanied by municipal officials.
Two animal welfare organisations, as well as professionals from the Domestic Animal Shelter (CATAD), handled and transported the animals. In this example, four horses and a rooster were housed in specialised shelters that ensured their safety and well-being.
