The Gay Games Valencia 2026 preparations are still going well. There are already more than 3,660 people signed up for this historic event’s wide range of sports and cultural activities slated for next June, even though there are still eight months to go.
This number is a big deal for the organisation because it is far higher than the number of people who took part in the prior two events: Guadalajara (2,634) and Hong Kong (2,381). Since the registration period opened a year ago, the number of people signing up has steadily increased, showing that the Valencian event has attracted interest from around the world.
A wide range of international representation
The contestants are from the United States, Canada, and Australia, which are all countries that have typically sent many people to the Gay Games. This year’s edition also has more European participants than in prior years. Many athletes from Italy, Portugal, the UK, and Spain are taking part.
Culture, sport, and diversity
The Gay Games Valencia 2026 will be a unique event that prioritises diversity and acceptance. There will be 37 different sports in the program, such as badminton, fencing, athletics, swimming, and volleyball. There will also be two traditional local sports, Colpbol and Pilota Valenciana, which will show off the culture and sports traditions of the Valencian Community.
The people in charge of the Games stress that they will keep the event’s original spirit and ideals, which are focused on respect, equality, and diversity. Every edition has embodied these principles since its inception.
Dates and a call for people to join
The Gay Games Valencia 2026 will take place from June 27th to July 4th, 2026, in different locations throughout the city. The leaders want LGBTQ+ people and people from all over the world to come to Valencia and be a part of an event that will make the city the world capital of sport and diversity.
