Another glorious weekend has begun on the sun-kissed Costa Blanca, and the air is filled with anticipation! From traditional fiestas to live music and lively markets, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Prepare to embrace the warmth, culture, and wonderful community that make our hometown so special.
The Fiesta of all Fiestas: La Mata is Calling
The main event this weekend, and a must-see for everyone, is the incredible La Mata fiesta in honour of Our Lady of the Rosary! Torrelamata is set to come alive with a calendar of events for people of all ages to enjoy.
The festivities, which run until early October, include a jam-packed weekend schedule for you to enjoy. Don’t miss Friday’s “Parabares” tour, a one-of-a-kind pub crawl that promises to be a blast. On Saturday, prepare to have some fun with the children’s bulls running and a lively foam party. The evening will feature a community “sobaquillo” dinner, with everyone bringing a dish to share, followed by a mobile disco. It’s a genuine celebration of community spirit that you won’t want to miss!

More Fun Across the Coast
Beyond the festivities in La Mata, the Costa Blanca is a hive of activity this weekend:
- Candlelight concerts in Alicante: For a magical musical experience, head to Alicante on Sunday for two fantastic tribute concerts. You can enjoy the enchanting sounds of Coldplay vs Imagine Dragons or a tribute to the music of Ed Sheeran, both performed by candlelight at a unique venue.
- Altea Moors and Christians Fiesta: This weekend marks the start of the grand Moors and Christians festivities in Altea. This historical reenactment is a spectacular display of costumes, music and parades, and it has been celebrated since 1979.
- Calpe Fiestas: The town of Calpe is also commemorating this month. Keep an eye out for events celebrating the “Virgen de la Merced” and “Romeria Virgen del Rocio” festivals. These traditional events provide an excellent opportunity to learn about local culture while also enjoying a welcoming environment.
- Lively Markets: Want a taste of authentic Spanish life? The weekend is an ideal time to visit one of the many local markets. On Sundays, you can visit the lively flea and antique market “El Cisne” in Benidorm, which also has live music. Meanwhile, the popular Sunday market in Guardamar del Segura, known as the “Mercado del Camp,” is an excellent place to browse stalls and eat delicious food.

Whether you’re dancing the night away at the fiesta, discovering a new favourite artist, or simply soaking up the atmosphere with friends and family, this weekend is all about enjoying the good life on the Costa Blanca. So why not go outside, enjoy the sunshine, and create some wonderful memories!
