It is currently Friday, December 19th, 2025, and the Costa Blanca is just beginning its most magical week. From Alicante’s Guinness World Record nativity to Benidorm’s nonstop family entertainment, the region is brimming with holiday spirit.
Here is your guide to the best events happening Christmas week on the Costa Blanca.
Benidorm: The Plaza de la Navidad
Benidorm transforms the Plaza de SS.MM. Reyes de Espana (outside the Town Hall) into a Christmas wonderland. This is the heart of the action for families.
- Children’s entertainment: Daily shows at 6pm. This week features:
- Dec 20: Nanny McPhee musical performance.
- Dec 21st: Magic shows and kids’ theatre
- Dec 22nd: Puppet show with Grandma Plum
- Dec 23rd: Mini-disco with Santa’s family
- Dec 25-28th: Continued daily children’s performances.
The Christmas House, located at Casa Museu de l’Hort de Colon, allows children to drop off letters for Santa.
Ice Skating and Attractions: The main square has a large ice rink and fairground rides that are open throughout the New Year.
Alicante City: Giant Nativity & Festive Fairs
Alicante has the world’s largest nativity scene, located in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. It’s a must-see for festive photos.
- The Christmas Fair (Rabasa): This massive fairground is currently in peak season. From December 20th to January 6th, it is open daily from 11:00am to 1:00am, offering adrenaline rides, traditional sweets and funfair games.
- Xmas Market at Jardines de Abril: If you’re reading this on Friday, don’t miss San Juan de Alicante’s boutique market on December 20th and 21st. It is set in beautiful gardens, with artisan stalls and live music.
- Street Markets: A travelling Christmas market hits Babel market on December 21st Plaza de America and Carolinas for last-minute handmade gifts.

Altea & Calpe: Music and Culture
For a more traditional Mediterranean Christmas, the northern Costa Blanca offers beautiful choral and theatrical events.
- Mississippi Gospel Choir: A soul-stirring concert at the Palau Altea on December 26th at 8:00pm
- Altea will host Garfio y la Isla del Tesoro (Hook and Treasure Island) on December 29th.
- Living Traditions: Calpe’s Old Town is beautifully decorated, and on December 30th, guided tours of the historic centre will take you through the festive displays.

The Big One: Christmas Day at La Zenia Beach
If you want to experience a Christmas like no other, head to Cala Bosque in La Zenia on the morning of December 25th. What started as a small gathering of expats years ago has grown into a massive, spontaneous celebration that attracts thousands of people from over 100 different nationalities.
- The Atmosphere: Picture a sea of Santa hats, festive swimsuits, and even full turkey costumes. It’s a huge, friendly picnic in the sand.
- Music: The Decapo Orchestra is a staple of the event, usually performing live festive hits and classical favourites right on the beach starting around 11:00am.
- What to bring: Most people bring their own folding chairs, tables, and a picnic box containing their “Christmas dinner.” Expect to see portable barbecues and the occasional generator-powered beer fridge!
- Top Tip: The party officially starts around 10:00 a.m. Parking quickly becomes impossible because local police frequently close nearby streets to traffic. Plan to arrive early or expect a 10-15 minute walk to the shore.

Looking Ahead: The Three Kings
The Spanish festive season doesn’t end on the 25th; the Royal Postmen will begin appearing in squares like Torrevieja and Javea starting January 2nd to collect letters for the Three Kings parade on January 5th.
