Four people were arrested by National Police officers in Alicante for drug trafficking and public health violations as a result of the city’s vehicle and people preventative procedures.
According to a National Police statement, one of the arrested men was stopped in his vehicle at a police checkpoint while carrying drugs in slabs for later processing for retail sale, while the other two were stopped after being discovered during exchanges on public roads.
One incident took place when a car approached the security checkpoint at the police station and attempted to evade it.
The officers had to stop the vehicle and, after intercepting it, given the possibility that the driver’s attempt to evade capture was intended to conceal something related to a criminal offence, they inspected a backpack on the passenger seat, where they discovered five slabs of hashish weighing 500 grams in total.
Officers arrested the vehicle’s driver, a 37-year-old guy, on suspicion of cocaine trafficking. The suspect was taken before a duty magistrate in Alicante.
Caught during a drug exchange
The second incident, which resulted in two arrests, occurred when a squad of plainclothes police from the public safety section noticed suspicious behaviour in a building entrance.
A van driven by a man parked next to this person as he approached the passenger door. The officers observed an interchange between them, with the driver passing a bag to the other individual.
Based on their concerns, the cops decided to intercept the individual who had received the bag and was attempting to enter the building fast. One cop halted her, while another managed to immobilise the vehicle they had spotted.
After analysing the contents of the bag exchanged between the two people, it was revealed that it contained varying amounts of drugs. Specifically, they found five small plastic bags containing crystal MDMA, four bottles of liquid GHB (ecstasy), and four bottles of poppers.
Furthermore, further drugs were discovered inside the van driven by the other person, including 334.4 grams of ecstasy, 21.9 grams of crystal meth, and 1.9 grams of hashish.
For all of these reasons, both people, ages 44 and 25, were detained as suspected narcotics traffickers. They were hauled before the duty judge of the Alicante Investigating Court.
Detected selling anabolic steroid
The third occurrence was discovered by an undercover patrol on preventive duty, who saw two suspicious guys standing next to a vehicle with its trunk open.
When one of the men handed the other a bag, the police, suspecting a narcotics exchange, typically referred to in police parlance as a “pass,” intercepted both individuals.
Officers discovered that the bag contained varying amounts of anabolic steroids. An additional investigation of the vehicle showed more of these chemicals.
As a result, the authorities apprehended a 42-year-old man who was carrying the drugs in the vehicle for violating public health.
The police operation resulted in the seizure of five boxes of human growth hormone, two vials of nandrolone, seven vials of testosterone, two boxes of clenbuterol, one box of HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin), eleven vials of bacteriostatic water for subcutaneous injection, other anabolic substances, and 800 euros in cash. The arrested individual has been returned to the custody of the city’s duty magistrate.
