The Denia Department of Health has began restoration work to update the Radiology Service’s infrastructure and equipment, a project that will cost €3.56 million in total. A new MRI and two new Computed Tomography scanners will each cost €1,300,000, with an additional €100,000 for an orthopantomograph and €60,000 for a densitometer.
The MRI will add a second device to the existing one, allowing for more tests and shorter wait times. The two CT scanners will have technological advancements that will provide higher-resolution images with less radiation exposure.
The densitometer will use dual-energy technology to deliver more precise measurements of bone mineral density, while the digital orthopantomograph will produce panoramic images of the oral cavity, improving the quality of dental studies.
The modification is part of the Valencian Community’s plan to update hospitals’ technology. In the instance of Dénia Hospital, the intervention is part of a larger strategy to boost the center’s capacity and improve healthcare in the Marina Alta region.
The initial work affects three rooms on the hospital’s ground floor that hold the Diagnostic Imaging Service’s technical departments. The refurbishment, which includes structural and technical changes to adapt the facilities to the new technology, would initially cost around 800,000 euros.
The purpose is to adapt physical spaces to meet the technical and safety requirements of modern technology, such as specific electrical installations, insulation systems, structural reinforcement, and radiation protection measures.
In this initial phase, the spaces for the two new CT scanners and the new MRI will be opened, and the new equipment will be introduced gradually.
Service Activity
The technical proposal for ward adaption was created with utility, safety, and efficiency in mind. The new facilities will provide suitable conditions for both healthcare workers and patients. The project includes acoustic and thermal insulation solutions, access point adaption, new technical wire integration, and protective structural element installation.
The construction schedule specifies that the work will be completed in stages, with the goal of making the project consistent with ongoing healthcare activities at the facility. The new equipment will be installed once the work is completed and the technical certification protocols have been met.
