Summer on the Costa Blanca is full of sunshine, beautiful beaches, and vibrant towns, but it doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Whether you’re a family, couple, or solo traveller, there are numerous low-cost or free activities to make the most of the season.
Here are ten low-cost ideas for summer fun on the Costa Blanca, demonstrating that some of the best things in life truly are free (or nearly free!)
- Beach Days with a Twist: The obvious choice, but with a little preparation, your beach days can become mini-adventures. Pack a picnic, bring beach games, or go on a sunset treasure hunt with your kids. Guardamar and Playa del Cura, both in Torrevieja, are ideal beaches.
- Explore Local Hiking Trails: From Montgo Park to the scenic Panon de lfach in Calpe, there are incredible views to be discovered – and walking is both free and beneficial to your health! To avoid the hottest parts of the day, go in the early morning or late afternoon.

- Visit a Local Market: Wander through your town’s weekly markets, not only for low-cost produce but also for the experience. Allow your children to select a small treat, or purchase fresh fruit and create a DIY smoothie bar at home. - Outdoor Movie Nights at Home: Set up a projector in the garden or just use your laptop. Spread out some blankets, make some popcorn, and let the kids choose their movie. You can have instant summer magic without leaving your house.
- Free Craft Afternoons: Create an outdoor craft station using recycled materials, shells, or natural elements from the garden. You can also get some inspiration from my article, Creative Fun In The Sun: 10 Summer Craft Ideas For Kids On The Costa Blanca – Costa Blanca Daily!

- Go on a Bike Adventure: Ride along the Via Verde paths between Denia and El Vergel, or explore the flat coastal promenades. It’s an excellent way to stay active while also exploring your local area.
- Free Festivals and Fiestas: Throughout the summer, many towns host free events, which can all be found on Costa Blanca Daily – Everything Costa Blanca – Daily! From parades and fireworks to live music and local dancing. Check your local town hall for nearby events.
- Have a Spanish-Style Picnic: Go to a shady spot, such as a pine forest near Elche or Font Roja in Alcoy, and enjoy a relaxing merrienda or lunch of Spanish tortilla, bread, fruit, and cold drinks.

- Visit a Fishing Port or Marina: Watch boats arrive at local harbours such as Santa Pola or Moraira while enjoying an ice cream by the water. It’s calming, educational, and completely free.
- Chase the Sunset: Sometimes the simplest pleasures are the best to pursue. Take a blanket, find a quiet beach or viewpoint, and watch the sun set into the sea. Perfect way to end the day – no ticket required.
Living or vacationing on the Costa Blanca means being surrounded by natural beauty, family-friendly activities, and plenty of sunshine, all of which are reasonably priced. With some planning and creativity, you can have an equally memorable summer on a budget.
