In Alicante, two adults and three children have been arrested by the National Police for stealing two electric scooters from inside a school in less than a month.
Before the cops started their investigation, a woman called to say that her son’s electric scooter had been stolen from where he had parked it at school. The child said that same afternoon, he saw a young man with his scooter in a nearby square. When he asked the young man about how he got the scooter, the young man said that he bought it from someone else for 40 euros, even though he knew that was a lot less than it was worth and thought it might have been stolen.
The child also said in his complaint that the young man threatened to stab anyone who came after his scooter before leaving the scene of the crime and when the boy demanded that he return the scooter, the young man showed him a knife.
Because of these events, police from the Judicial Police Group at the Northern District Police Station started an investigation. After doing a number of checks, they were able to identify three minors: a man and two women. Once they were located, they were arrested on suspicion of robbery with force.
The police continued their investigation to find the young man who owned the victim’s scooter and arrest him. He was charged with getting stolen goods because he bought the scooter knowing that it could be stolen. Besides that, he reportedly made serious threats because he threatened the child with the knife.
The young man was finally identified as a 24-year-old Spanish man. He was then found and arrested on suspicion of making serious threats and receiving stolen goods.
Something else was stolen while the police were looking into the first one. This time, the thief was an 18-year-old man who was caught nearby by officers from the Provincial Brigade for Citizen Security. He was being held on suspicion of robbery with violence because, after breaking the scooter’s security lock and being caught by the school’s caretaker, the thief fought violently with it to get away, getting hurt slightly.
The second person has been convicted of theft and robbery many times before, even though they turned 18 last year. The three children were given to the Alicante Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office, and the two adults were given to the Court of Instruction in the same town.
