Lidl, a supermarket company, is expanding even more in the Valencian Community by opening four new stores in 2025. This makes it one of the areas with the most planned openings this year. A study by PwC that the company used to back up its promise said that this “reaffirms the company’s commitment to the economic development of the Community,” where its work “creates an impact of almost 1,000 million euros on the GDP and more than 20,500 jobs.”
In 2025, Lidl will open four more stores in the Valencian Community, which will help the company continue to grow. The chain will open two supermarkets in Castellón. One will be in Benicarló to replace the one it already has in the municipality, and the other will be in Almassora, which will be its first store in this municipality. At the same time, it will expand its reach in the province of Alicante by opening new stores in Novelda and Calpe. Because of these new stores, Lidl will have 82 in the Valencian Community, “consolidating its role as a driver of employment and economic development in the region,” they say.
Different things will happen in the chain’s shops that were most affected by the flood in the province of Valencia, though, at the same time as these new stores open. Lidl reopened its store in Paiporta at the beginning of February. At the same time, the company is still working to get its only temporarily closed store, in the town of Alfafar in Valencia, back up and running as soon as possible. Along with restarting its warehouse in Cheste, Lidl has opened a new store in AlgemesÃ, which was one of the areas most badly hit by the disaster.
The new Lidl stores will have charging stations for electric cars and other vehicles “to encourage more responsible mobility,” the company said in a statement. The company will also keep focussing on local products. They will offer a wide range of fresh foods, including fruits and veggies, meat and fish, freshly baked bread, and hygiene, cleaning, and household goods. This will give customers a wide range of high-quality options.
Around 80 Lidl stores and 1,600 workers work for the company in the Valencian Community right now. A study by PwC found that it affects 0.78 percent of the region’s GDP and 0.89 percent of all jobs.
