The Alicante Provincial Fire Consortium responded to a call at 12:04 p.m. yesterday, Monday May 19th, to conduct a rescue operation at Peñón de Ifach in Calpe.
A 54-year-old hiker fell 5 to 6 metres while trekking a trail along the famed rock formation. The man sustained multiple bruises and significant discomfort in his buttocks, preventing him from continuing on his own.

Given the circumstances, the requisite emergency resources were activated, including the Alpha 01 rescue helicopter and the Special Rescue Group (GER), which successfully evacuated the injured individual. The procedure concluded at 1:11 p.m.
The rescue squad treated the wounded on-site before transporting him to a medical facility. According to the consortium, his life is not at risk.
This operation underscores the need for having specialised resources to respond swiftly and efficiently to emergencies in remote places.
