On Friday, June 7th, the Gabriel Miró Roundabout will be transformed into a meeting place for inclusion and diversity as the Orihuela City Council, through the Department of Equality, collaborates with Dimove and the Iberian LGBTI Sports Association (ADI) to celebrate LGBTQ+ Sports Day.
This event aims to promote tolerance, respect, and equality via sport, while also raising awareness of the LGBTQ+ community.
Starting at 10:00 a.m. and continuing throughout the morning, you can participate in various activities such as Pilates, exercise, popular games, and dancing. There will also be penalty shootouts and archery competitions, as well as designated sections for children’s activities, to ensure that people of all ages may participate.
Agustina RodrÃguez, the Councillor for Equality, emphasised the government’s commitment to a more equal and varied society. “Once again, Orihuela demonstrates that it is a welcoming, polite community dedicated to the rights of all people. This event celebrates variety while also conveying a clear message of support and visibility for the LGBTQ+ community. Sport is an incredible tool for bringing people together, eradicating discrimination, and creating safe spaces for peace and freedom.”
RodrÃguez invites Orihuela residents of all ages to participate in a day of physical activity, fun, and values. The goal is to celebrate equality and ensure that everyone, regardless of orientation, identity, or gender expression, feels welcome, valued, and respected.
You can register at www.dimoveelche.com or at the Glorieta Gabriel Miró booth on the day of the event.
