Gandia takes another step towards the complete renovation of Grau and the beach with the unveiling of the new Marina de Gandia. The infrastructure project, with a budget of nearly 8 million euros, is set to commence in September. The Marina will allow for the introduction of a new tourist incentive as the tourism and nautical sports offerings are expanded.
The ceremony was placed in Foment and brought together institutional representatives, businesspeople, and citizens for the official presentation of the Marina de Gandia project. During the event, representatives from the business Alcara Infraestructures, which will manage the installation, spoke alongside Gandia Mayor José Manuel Prieto.
“This new infrastructure will be a fundamental part that will help us as a dynamising agent for El Grau and the beach ,” Prieto told reporters. He also stated that it will create jobs through “a powerful business investment that will allow us to complete the nautical offer that we have as a tourist municipality.”
Regarding timeframes, the highest authority stated that the City Council is already working to approve the project and provide the licence, allowing work to begin in September.
This would complete what Prieto described as the Grau’s new transformation: “With the port sheds and the Oceanographic Institute, we will have a new look for the city. Well over 30 million euros in public and private investments will transform the Grau port area into a hub of potential for the entire city.
“We have one of the best beaches in the country, and our outstanding debt was to have a Marina that would supplement the tourism offering with a first-rate product. He added, “A product that, in addition to being sporting, will also be commercial, and will be open to all users and citizens who will recover this space as an area of opportunities and leisure and as an emblem of El Grau and the beach.”
Paco Herrero, Alcara’s honorary president, called yesterday’s celebration “an exceptional day for us and the city.” Finally, we can make the proposal, which is an endeavour to increase nautical and sports tourists. He continued by saying, “We believe that the new Marina de Gandia will be a dynamising engine for the great beach we have” .
Herrero emphasised the importance of sailing and rowing sports, as well as potential additions. “We want everyone to know us and all the leisure options that we will offer .” Finally, he stated that the proposed initial investment is 8 million euros.
The new Marina in Gandia
The proposal envisions the development of a modern and sustainable marina that is accessible not only to the nautical community but also to the general public. It will have 268 moorings, 163 parking spots, a 1,440-square-metre headquarters, and separate sections for leisure, nautical activities and boat services.
Among the planned operations are general port dredging, complete dock and jetty renovations, finger installation, and infrastructure improvements to accommodate larger vessels. In addition, cutting-edge technologies and sustainable systems, such as solar panels, will be used to attain energy self-sufficiency.
