A 42-year-old woman died as a result of a violent incident in Villena, in the province of Alicante. A dozen individuals were involved in the street brawl, and the Guardia Civil arrested four of them for assault and battery and one for homicide.
The altercation began after midnight on Wednesday, June 11th, on Calle Lepanto and continued all the way to Parque del Mercado Municipal. The distressing calls for rescue from one of the women awoke the neighbours, who had watched the vicious battle.
The motives for this big group of people fighting on the street are being explored, and gender-based violence is initially ruled out.
According to the Generalitat’s Emergency Information and Coordination Centre, the warning came directly from the Integrated Health Centre in the capital of Alto Vinalopó.
In that event, a SAMU and an SVB unit intervened and evacuated a woman and two males to Elda General Hospital, where they all received stab wounds. The woman eventually died.
