The National Police have arrested a woman for stealing €20,100 from her ex-partner’s money at his Elche house, taking advantage of the amicable relationship they had following their breakup.
The 37-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of stealing after her ex-partner reported that some of her savings at home had significantly dropped and that there was obvious proof that they had been stolen by a woman with whom he had previously been in a relationship, according to National Police.
The victim stated that in 2017, he began a relationship with a woman he met on social media. She travelled from her own country to Spain with the aim of living together at the man’s house and continuing the affair.
However, the relationship ended in 2023, and she relocated to a shared flat. However, their friendship remained strong, and they saw each other on occasion. In truth, the victim claimed that he had periodically given her financial aid when she needed it and that he had free access to her home.
So, despite the fact that everything appeared to be cordial, the lady took advantage of the trusting relationship and the ability to visit and leave her ex-partner’s home to gradually take money from the funds he had put there.
Finally, the victim concealed a large sum of money in a spot within the residence and trained a camera on it, allowing him to validate his suspicions and report the incident to the police.
