In addition to being a haven for sun worshippers and sangria connoisseurs, the Costa Blanca can be a dog owner’s paradise. On your next beach vacation, there’s no reason to leave your pet behind thanks to the region’s golden sands, Mediterranean waters, and increasing number of dog-friendly beaches. These coastal locations provide lots of room for running, swimming, and taking in the salty air, whether you’re a local looking for weekend activities or you’re travelling with your dog. Here’s a guide to the top dog-friendly beaches on the Costa Blanca – because your fur babies deserve a holiday too!
Let’s start by discussing “Playa Mar y Montana – Altea”. This peaceful cove area is ideal for dogs looking for peace and quiet and is one of the more laid-back dog beaches. The water is typically very clear and calm, making it ideal for a leisurely paddle or swim.

The “Playa de Agua Amarga” in Alicante is the next stop. This beach is officially designated for dogs and even has bins and pet showers. It is well-liked by both locals and tourists and is renowned for always being extremely clean. Agua Amarga is unquestionably worth a visit; some have even claimed that it would be the best five-star dog resort on the Costa Blanca.
The “Cala del Xarco” might be the ideal choice for people who live closer to the Villajoyosa region. A year-round dog-friendly beach that is naturally pebbly. It’s ideal for more daring puppies who don’t mind rocky terrain and sniffing around the cliffs, and it’s typically less crowded than other locations.
Playa Punta del Riu in El Campello is the next stop on the list; it’s a designated dog beach with clear waters and a very natural feel, with lots of space for dogs to run around while you unwind and observe. The beach is open year-round and is easy to get to. I must also add that if you enjoy sunsets as much as I do, this location is ideal for relaxing and taking in the view.

Although L’Ahuir Beach is located in Gandia and is only a short distance from the Costa Blanca, it is unquestionably worthy of special recognition. One of the largest dog-friendly beaches in the area is located just north of the Costa Blanca border. Dogs are allowed to roam freely along a wide variety of sandy beaches. This beach is basically a gold ticket if your pet enjoys running wild and free, like one of mine does.
There are a few worthy mentions for residents of the Orihuela Costa region, such as “Playa Cala la Mosca”, “Playa Rocio del Mar”, and “Ferris Playa”. These are all smaller than the ones listed above, but they’re still excellent choices for locals, and, once more, if your dog enjoys exploring and running around rocky paths or sandy pebbles while paddling in clear water. These are all peaceful and off the usual route. These beaches are natural areas with few amenities, so don’t forget to pack water and supplies.
These beaches all provide the ideal fusion of sea, sun, and wagging tails. Every fur baby’s personality can find a place, whether it’s on a sandy shore or a rocky cove. Just don’t forget to bring bags, water, and shade. Maintaining these areas clean and accessible to all requires adherence to local regulations. You and your dog can have amazing beach adventures with a little preparation and the right beach selection.
