The Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, and the Councillor for Urban Services, Sandra Sánchez, were joined yesterday, Thursday June 19th, morning by the construction manager, Cayetano Bernabé, and representatives of the successful bidder, to inspect the resurfacing and repair work on the Levante Dike, which spans 1,247 linear meters and costs 6,543,733 euros.
The Mayor emphasised the high degree of completion of the works, with the rehabilitation of the steel framework and adaption of the seawall face now complete. Furthermore, work on installing the new raised access pavement is well underway, with precast concrete bench modules around the whole circumference of the seawall and the first sections of stainless steel railing already being completed.
Eduardo Dolón has stated that if the work continues at its current rate, it will be done in August, delayed from July, the originally stated completion date. According to the contracting company, there has been a slight delay in their execution due to inclement weather (rain and strong gusts of wind throughout the winter and spring), as well as a delay in the supply of architectural and monumental lighting (funded by the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan – Next Generation Funds).

Access Ramp to the Levante Breakwater
Meanwhile, Torrevieja’s Mayor has announced the state of urban development works in the port region, stressing the work on the fairgrounds, where pipeline construction is now being carried out throughout the area.
He also stated that construction on the platform connecting the Levante Dike and the leisure centre is being planned in collaboration with the leisure centre’s concessionaire. He also stated that once the new access road to the fish market and Marina Salinas club is ready and operating, construction on the ramp’s foundation structure will commence.
Torrevieja City Council aims to open the recreational centre by completing perimeter construction, implementing the Levante Dike connecting platform, and restoring MÃnguez Pier.
