Torrevieja Parks and Gardens Service, administered by Actúa-Grupo Hozono Global, has developed new social media profiles to engage the public in the everyday task of maintaining and improving the municipality’s green areas.
Beginning last week, citizens were able to track the service’s activity via the “jardinesdetorrevieja” Facebook, Instagram, and X profiles. These channels will routinely post images, videos, and information about the work that is done on a daily basis, ranging from pruning, planting, and watering to special actions like insect control campaigns, garden area cleaning, and heat wave reinforcements.
In addition, content aimed at boosting environmental awareness and sustainability education will be distributed, such as gardening suggestions, best practices for using green spaces, and public-interest news.
Torrevieja City Council’s Department of Parks and Gardens encourages all citizens to join this direct communication channel via social media and actively participate in the collective commitment to a greener, better-cared-for, and more sustainable Torrevieja.
Our municipality’s new Green Area and Open Space Maintenance Service has increased the number of professionals from 59 to 113. Furthermore, the number of vehicles and machinery has increased threefold, from 25 to 68 units. This fleet includes light, heavy, and special-class equipment, resulting in increased coverage, speedier interventions, and overall service enhancement.
The deal includes the upkeep of 362 public spaces, including parks, gardens, squares, sports fields, and playgrounds—totaling more than 2 million square meters. This is an increase of 800,000 square meters from the previously maintained area of 1.2 million square meters.
The service involves not only the maintenance of existing green areas, but also improvement and adaptation operations that enable facility modernisation, plant species renewal, and space adaptation to fulfil accessibility, safety, and sustainability criteria.
