Customs Surveillance officials from the Tax Agency, in collaboration with officers from the Guardia Civil and the National Police, apprehended the driver of a truck in the Port of Valencia transporting 675 kilos of cocaine hidden in the rear of a truck on a ship from Ibiza.
According to a joint statement from the Tax Agency, the Guardia Civil and the National Police, on July 9th, as part of “Operation Summer,” a joint operation between Customs Surveillance, the Civil Guard, and the National Police, random checks on goods transportation in the Port of Valencia were conducted.
After conducting an “exhaustive prior risk analysis,” agents from the three organisations chose a ship between Ibiza and Valencia to inspect all trucks.
Thanks to the assistance of the dog handlers, one of the dogs spotted a vehicle, which, upon opening, revealed a stockpile of 675 kilograms of cocaine.
In addition, the driver, a 53-year-old Spanish guy, was in possession of 30 grams of cocaine and is currently under arrest in Valencia.
The matter was sent over to the Valencia Court of First Instance and Investigation No. 13.
