The new municipal fleet of 54 vehicles, which were acquired through financial leasing (renting), was unveiled by the Orihuela City Council. The total investment in the fleet is €3.22 million. This initiative is a critical milestone in the modernisation of municipal resources, as it will enhance the safety of workers, improve the quality of public services, and reduce the environmental impact of travel.
During the occasion, Mónica Pastor, Councillor for Mobile Vehicles, underscored the necessity of this renewal, as the previous fleet was antiquated and necessitated substantial maintenance expenses. We now possess vehicles that are more environmentally favourable, modern, and secure, which will enable us to more effectively address the municipality’s requirements.
Mayor Pepe Vegara underscored that “Orihuela is now equipped with a modern, sustainable, and efficient fleet, which serves as a testament to our dedication to an administration that prioritises the safety of its employees and protects its resources.”

A variety of vehicles, tailored to the unique requirements of the different municipal areas, comprise the new fleet. These vehicles range from passenger cars for travel to specialised vehicles for technical and emergency work. Vegara observed that the integration of low-consumption and electric vehicles is a notable aspect of the new fleet. This will result in a reduction in emissions, a shift towards more sustainable mobility in the municipal sector, and a reduction in gasoline expenditures for the municipality.
The contract, which is divided into 11 sections, has a five-year duration and includes comprehensive maintenance of the vehicles to guarantee their optimal operational condition. The total investment of €3,223,430.32 will enable Orihuela to acquire state-of-the-art vehicles for its administration, citizen security, infrastructure, and technical services areas.
