The Elche Local Police were compelled to respond to traffic at kilometre 3,800 of the CV-865 highway at an urgent pace due to a high-risk traffic incident.
They discovery a high-end vehicle parked in the middle of the road, with its solitary occupant exhibiting a visibly agitated and defiant demeanour. The driver demonstrated a lack of cooperation by locking the vehicle from the inside, increasing the volume of the music to maximum, and making obscene gestures towards the officers.
Officers proceeded to contain the vehicle in anticipation of an abrupt escape that could result in an accident. The woman manifested a clear intention to escape by repeatedly ramming patrol cars and responding with aggressive manoeuvres, despite numerous attempts at dialogue.
The officers were compelled to shatter one of the windows to gain access when she refused to turn off the engine and unlock the doors, and her behaviour became increasingly violent. Hospitalisation was necessary due to the driver’s physical assault on one of the officers, who sustained a kick to the face. This incident further exacerbated the situation.
She was transferred to the Elche General Hospital, where she was evaluated and confined to the psychiatric unit, after being subdued and the suspicion that she may be experiencing a psychiatric crisis.
The incident resulted in substantial material damage to numerous police vehicles, such as dents and damage to fenders and license plates.
