The acquisition agreement was signed by the mayor of Orihuela, Pepe Vegara, and the president of the CAM Foundation, Luis Manuel Boyer Cantó. The agreement aims to incorporate the building into the municipal heritage. The City Council concludes the direct acquisition of the property for a total of two million euros with this transaction.
Vegara underscored that “Orihuela is currently reclaiming a space that was previously a part of our collective existence but is now the property of all Orihuela residents.” It is a source of pride to be able to assert that this cherished building is now integral to the municipal heritage.

Matías Ruiz Peñalver, the Councillor for Heritage, elucidated that “this is a property with significant symbolic and functional value for Orihuela.” The purchase agreement’s execution ensures that its utilisation is entirely consistent with public interest.
The building, which has previously served as a venue for cultural, social and educational events, is set to become a publicly owned multipurpose space, thereby reaffirming its commitment to the public. The City Council has devised a number of strategic applications to optimise the use of its facilities.
At present, the City Council is in the process of compiling a technical cost assessment report for the renovation and commissioning of the building with the objective of including the project in the 2026 municipal budget. “Our dedication is to guarantee that this structure continues to serve the community of Orihuela as a focal point for cultural development, training, and meetings.” The mayor expressed his gratitude to the Procurement, Heritage, and Economic divisions of the Orihuela City Council for their contributions, which are evident in the project for its new uses.
