The coast of Alicante is once again experiencing ground tremors. According to the Valencian Community Emergency Coordination Centre’s official Twitter account, the National Geographic Institute (IGN) detected three earthquakes in the Mediterranean off the southern coast of the province of Alicante yesterday, Monday August 4th, which were followed by some aftershocks.
The initial earthquake, which had a magnitude of 1.3 mbLg and a depth of 0 kilometres, took place approximately 110 kilometres off the coast of Torrevieja. The IGN detected two additional seismic movements at sea, each with a magnitude of 3.7 mbLg, hours later. One of them was recorded at a depth of 10 kilometres, approximately 52 kilometres off the coast of Santa Pola, while the other was recorded at a depth of 12 kilometres, approximately 50 kilometres from Guardamar del Segura.

Although some residents along the Torrevieja coast have experienced the earthquakes, no damage has been reported thus far.
