Concern regarding bicycles
The severe accident elicited a significant response from the local populace, who expressed their dissatisfaction with the escalating number of personal mobility vehicles that were travelling at high speeds on the streets, frequently without any form of regulation or identification.
Additionally, the incident reignites the conversation regarding the necessity of more stringent regulations and surveillance for electric scooters in urban areas, particularly in tourist destinations such as Torrevieja, where their prevalence has increased in recent years.
Consequently, the Torrevieja Local Police have intensified their efforts to regulate the use of electric scooters in order to prevent their unregulated proliferation. In addition, the City Council has conducted presentations in secondary schools throughout the academic year to inform students about the regulations that govern this particular vehicle.
