A 52-year-old woman in Elche has been arrested for reportedly selling pirated full seasons of soap operas on the Milanuncios.com site. The titles include Mientras haya vida, La encrucijada, Cuando me enamoro, and Amor sans límites.
The National Police detainee, a Spanish woman with no criminal record, has been freed on accusations in an operation called “Sinner” and ordered by the Court of Instruction number 1 of the city of Elche for an alleged crime against intellectual property.
The Specialised and Violent Violence Unit (UDEV) of the Elche Police Station is in charge of this “unprecedented” investigation because the pirated content is soap operas. They have seized about 1,300 fake DVDs, seven hard drives, and a desktop computer, all of which contain whole series of soap operas.
The accused woman put advertising for sale on Milanuncios.com. She then sent the DVDs in mp4 or mkv video codecs by mail and charged between 5 and 7 euros per season of each soap opera, plus shipping charges.
The facts came to light after the Audiovisual Producers’ Rights Management Entity (EGEDA) submitted a complaint in July 2025 about the mass reproduction and distribution of unlicensed copies of works.
Along with Mientras haya vida, La encrucijada, Cuando me enamoro, and Amor sin límites, there were dozens or even hundreds of chapters of each telenovela with names like Corazón salvaje, Pasión, Mi verdad oculta, Cautiva de amor, Con esa mirada, Fugitivas, La madame, Un camino hacia el destino, Teresa, Alondra, Rubí, or La antorcha encendida, to name a few.
After the woman was arrested and her home was searched, where a lot of computer equipment and audiovisual media were found, she went to the Elche police station on December 2nd and gave a statement. She was then released on charges, but the court that is overseeing the case still has to make a decision.
