The Local Government Board of the Villajoyosa Council has approved the modification of the mixed contract for the supply and services of outdoor illumination for the municipality in two aspects. The purpose of this modification is to enhance the economic and operational efficiency of this critical service for the city.
On the one hand, the Council has adjusted the rates for the upcoming year, resulting in a decrease of €42,063.72 from the previous year to €552,054.04 (VAT included). This revision, which is incorporated into the specifications and is based on official energy market indicators, including the year-on-year CPI and prices published by the CNMC (National Commission for the Economy and Commerce), is indicative of “rigorous budget management adjusted to actual cost developments,” as explained by Ana Alcázar, Councillor for Urban Scene.
Furthermore, the Local Government Board approved an additional modification that was designed to enhance the provision of service maintenance in response to the “sustained increase in workload.” This increase was caused by various factors, including the accumulation of routine tasks, the need to reduce response times, the escalating demand for temporary lighting for events and festivities, cable thefts at various points in the network, and urgent interventions associated with unforeseen incidents.
The Councillor for Urban Affairs underscored that “these decisions serve as a testament to the fact that public management is capable of and must adjust to operational realities while maintaining financial control.” The Councillor for the area stated that, in addition to strengthening the service’s resources to ensure that the quality of illumination is maintained throughout the municipality, “we adjusted the contract downwards as a result of precise energy market forecasting.”
The councillor for the area emphasised that the City Council “reinforces its commitment to the continuous improvement of municipal services, the responsible use of public resources, and a swift response to the real needs of citizens” with this double adjustment.
