A British-registered vehicle was eventually removed from the hard shoulder of the AP-7 highway near the Pilar de la Horadada tunnel. The vehicle had been overturned for more than a week, and the driver remains unaccounted for. The vehicle has been transported to the municipal depot in anticipation of its owner’s return.
The car, which was visibly damaged and upside-down, elicited confusion and astonishment among passing drivers. Additionally, comments on social media were made regarding the vehicle’s extended absence, as there was no authority to remove it.
The delay was attributed to the inability to locate the vehicle’s owner, who is suspected to be a British tourist, according to the Alicante Traffic Management Centre (COTA). The motorist did not respond to the Guardia Civil and traffic authorities’ attempts to contact him.
“The vehicle tipped over.” It is unclear whether the motorist was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or whether he lacked insurance. All that is evident is that he abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene, according to COTA.
Authorities were compelled to delay in order to adhere to the legal process, as there was no accident report or information regarding the car’s proprietor. “We are conducting all feasible enquiries to identify the individual accountable,” COTA stated.
In the interim, the vehicle emerged as a viral phenomenon and an enigma that captivated the attention of hundreds of drivers for more than a week. The case remains unresolved as a result of its recall. The case may be closed without legal repercussions if the proprietor fails to appear.
