When the incident occurred, the 15-year-old suspect was in the company of the alleged attacker, a 17-year-old juvenile. Last Friday at midnight, the suspect was arrested for allegedly hurling a rock that struck an officer in the face.
The victim, a 47-year-old male who was a member of the Elche Operational Response Group (GOR), sustained severe injuries that necessitated his hospitalisation in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the city’s General Hospital for four days.
The 15-year-old adolescent was apprehended by the Elche Judicial Police, and the investigation into the incident is still ongoing, according to the same sources.
The officer, who was not on duty at the time of the incident on August 2nd, was assaulted while attempting to avert a potential robbery on Calle Clara Campoamor in the Carrús neighbourhood.
