Cartagena Council has acquired its inaugural Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance for the Protection Civil. José Ramón Llorca, Councillor for Citizen Security, and Mayor Noelia Arroyo visited the vehicle, which “strengthens the municipality’s emergency health response capacity.”
According to municipal sources in a press release, the councillor emphasised the efforts of Civil Protection in the Beach Surveillance and Rescue Plan (COPLA), which has conducted over 3,900 interventions from June 15th to July 31st. In particular, a total of 641 preventive actions, 2,106 first aid interventions, 1,096 consultations attended to, and 97 rescues were recorded, all of which involved people, boats, and other life-threatening situations.
Over the past few years, Cartagena Council has acquired 40 new vehicles for the Local Police, including motorcycles, waggons, and patrol cars. It has also made investments in equipment, including 120 new communication terminals and defibrillators for patrol vehicles.
In terms of infrastructure, Los Dolores and La Aljorra are scheduled to receive new police stations, while the Cuesta Blanca station has been completed and is anticipated to be delivered shortly to serve the western region of the municipality.
